POBJFKHS Senior Grace Lu Earns Long Island Scholar-Artist Award

Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School senior Grace Lu was presented with the Long Island Scholar-Artist Award of Merit plaque at the annual Scholar Artist Gala. The prestigious honor is awarded to only 20 senior artists across Nassau and Suffolk counties, and Grace was recognized in the media arts category. Grace, who is an accomplished graphic design artist and illustrator, has excelled in numerous art courses throughout her time at POBJFKHS.

"My art is an outlet for how l perceive the world,” said Grace. “It allows me to show others what I see: the appeal in tiny details, or nuances that make life more beautiful. I can capture what I see or imagine in ways that aren't possible to show through any other method. Through art and creation, I am able to fully express what can't be described in words."

"I would like to thank my art teachers for always supporting my passion for creating art and following what I find interesting,” Grace continued. “They never failed to uplift and work with my ideas, allowing me to work at my own pace and enjoy the process."
